Gaze Burt honours Jim Chamley, who passed away recently at the age of 96. Jim had an extremely long legal career, during which he served thousands of clients with great skill, compassion, patience, humour and selflessness. He was a committed Christian who sought to honour God in the way he lived his life, loved his family and practiced law. In this, he was an example to us all.
Jim was one of the last two remaining partners of Thorne Thorne White and Clark-Walker – a central Auckland law firm with a long history dating back even further than Jim (or indeed Gaze Burt). Jim and Anne Chamley sold their practice to Gaze Burt last year – we are delighted to now have Anne as a director in our city office.
Jim’s funeral will be at 11am on Saturday 1 February. Reflecting Jim’s service of, and love for, the Pacific community, his funeral will be at the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa at 8 Calgary Street, Sandringham. It will be a great opportunity to pay our respects to a lawyer who exemplified a life of service.
